ST JOHN FISHER CHRISTMAS FAYRE: Our charity Christmas fayre is on 10 December in the parish hall. We hope to make it a festive occasion that brings together members of the community, both young and old, with a chance to shop and socialise. We are also hoping to involve local shops with their own stalls at the fayre. More volunteers are needed to help with organising the event. We need donations of items to decorate the hall, sell and to fill Father Christmas’s sack! OUR LADY’S FILM EVENING:capture  Wed 2nd Nov: documentaries on the founder of the Jesuits, St Ignatius of Loyola and his “co-founder” St Francis Xavier, featuring interviews with world-renowned scholars in the fields of history and theology, as well as stunning scenery from around the world. Bar open and stall selling home-made crafts with a Christmas theme. All welcome, 7 pm for 7.30 pm start.

OUR LADY OF THE ANGELS TABLE SALE on Saturday 5th November 10am to 3pm – in aid of MacMillan Cancer Care. All welcome to come along and browse for some bargains. We are combining this with a MacMillan Coffee Morning (and afternoon!. There will be coffee, tea and cakes, bacon rolls and sausage sandwiches. There will also be face painting for the kids and ladies doing make up. Entry 50p – all proceeds to MacMillan. The address is Angelus Centre, Bexley Road, Erith, DA8 3HQ. We have a car park, or you can park along Bexley Road (where permitted.)

This week is World Mission Sunday
and the second collection is for Missio, the Pope’s official charity for overseas mission. Many parishioners will remember it as the Association for the Propagation of the Faith – APF – whose red collection boxes have been a feature, over the years, of so many Catholic homes.

CAFOD HARVEST CAKE SALE: Thank you to everyone who contributed to our Harvest Cake sale on Sunday. Together we raised a magnificent £131.17 for CAFOD. This money will help CAFOD to continue to provide vital emergency relief and development work in the world’s poorest communities.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION 2017: Application forms are now available for the First Holy Communion Programme 2017. The programme is open to children of St John Fisher Parish who are currently in Year 3 or above (age 7years +). Please see Angela Underwood or Father Christian or email angelacunderwood@aol.com. If you are a new parishioner and/or do not attend mass at this parish but wish your child to join the programme, please speak to Father Christian. Lessons will commence in January 2017. The service will be in June 2017 (date TBC). Further details to follow. Completed forms to be returned no later than the 18th December 2016.

OLGA BOWMAN RIP: Tim would sincerely like to thank everyone who helped Olga over the years; Father Christian, Eucharistic Ministers, SVP, home visitors, those befriending her during Sunday coffee, all those greeting her arrival and all those contributing towards her most beautiful Requiem and Vigil, sending condolences, arranging flowers and especially Mass offerings. Everyone in the parish was truly wonderful to her- there were no exceptions. A mass of thanksgiving is to be offered with this intention for Sunday 20 November and if you don’t see Tim about, it’s because he’s just started walking his 4th Camino De Compostela, this time in Olga’s name!
