TWENTY NINTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME C

Today’s Theme: Christ Always Interceding For Us

Christ who ‘opened his arms on the cross’ is like Moses whose arms were raised in prayer for his people. Today Christ asks us to join him in continual prayer and never to lose heart.

OFFERING FOR HARVEST: Please note you can continue to bring Harvest offerings until the end of October. Please see list in porch.

CAFOD HARVEST CAKE SALE: Thank you to everyone who contributed to our Harvest Cake sale on Sunday. Together we raised a magnificent £131.17 for CAFOD. This money will help CAFOD to continue to provide vital emergency relief and development work in the world’s poorest communities.

ALBANY PARK BAPTIST CHURCH: Please keep our fellow Christians in Albany Park Baptist Church in your prayers as they celebrate their 75th anniversary. There will be a Thanksgiving Communion Service at 6:30pm on Sunday 30th October with a reception afterwards and Reverend Craig Downes says “it would be wonderful to see you there”. As Catholics, we should not receive Communion distributed in Anglican/Protestant services but Rev. Downes is happy to give a blessing if we fold our arms over our chest. Kathy Fogarty, Parish Christian Unity Contact.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION 2017: Application forms are now available for the First Holy Communion Programme 2017. The programme is open to children of St John Fisher Parish who are currently in Year 3 or above (age 7years +). Please see Angela Underwood or Father Christian or email angelacunderwood@aol.com. If you are a new parishioner and/or do not attend mass at this parish but wish your child to join the programme, please speak to Father Christian. Lessons will commence in January 2017. The service will be in June 2017 (date TBC). Further details to follow. Completed forms to be returned no later than the 18th December 2016.

OLGA BOWMAN RIP: Tim would sincerely like to thank everyone who helped Olga over the years; Father Christian, Eucharistic Ministers, SVP, home visitors, those befriending her during Sunday coffee, all those greeting her arrival and all those contributing towards her most beautiful Requiem and Vigil, sending condolences, arranging flowers and especially Mass offerings. Everyone in the parish was truly wonderful to her- there were no exceptions. A mass of thanksgiving is to be offered with this intention for Sunday 20 November and if you don’t see Tim about, it’s because he’s just started walking his 4th Camino De Compostela, this time in Olga’s name!
