Dear Parishioners

I am pleased to be back but I had a wonderful week’s holiday on the Island of Gozo, near Malta. I was walking for the most part, but there was a bit of sight seeing to be done too, especially in regard to churches, basilicas and cathedrals. The Church community is thriving and the churches are so fresh – nothing tired-looking about them. The highlight was a short pilgrimage to the national shrine of Ta Pinu with its beautiful basilica, recently visited by Pope Francis.

Anyway, back to business!!

                                                God Bless,                Fr Doug

WELCOME FIA

We welcome Fia Webber into our Church at the 10.30 mass. Congratulations to her family

MISSION APPEAL

We welcome Fr Mario Cerda of the Verona Fathers who will be preaching the appeal for the Comboni Mission, and will be joining Fr Doug in the celebration of masses.

PRIEST TRAINING FUND COLLECTION – Next  weekend

On Good Shepherd Sunday we always pray for vocations to the priesthood and we have our annual coolection to pay for the training of priests.

The priesthood has always been essential to the life of the Church. Once ordained, our priests dedicate their lives to serving Christ in various ministries in our diocese.

We currently have 6 men in formation to the priesthood in our diocese. We are blessed to have them but it costs £30,000 per year to sponsor each seminarian and the y study for 6 years before ordination! new do therefore need your financial support as well as your prayers. Please be prepared to give generously. You may prefer to donate online: www.rcaos.org.uk/donate/PTF

Happy Easter, Everyone – Yes, It is Easter for many weeks to come!

I am away in Gozo for a few days so please welcome Fr Krzysztof, from Our Lady of the Angels, Erith who is celebrating masses here this week. I will be back before next weekend.

Let me once again thank everyone involved in our Easter celebrations:

The stewards, the readers, the cleaners, the altar servers, the sacristans, those who have led the Stations of the Cross and the catechists who led them for the children, those in the music ministry, the person who produced our Easter Garden, and of course those responsible for the wonderful floral display.

The services seemed to be well-attended and they were much appreciated by everyone.

I also offer my personal thanks for your generous Easter offering and for the many cards and good wishes besides.

                                                God Bless,                Fr Doug

Happy Easter, Everyone!

May heaven be praised, may God be adored.

Everything is changed for I have seen the Lord!

What a joy it is, to celebrate Easter in Church with only a few restrictions this year. We have been able to journey with the Lord on a Way that led him through suffering and death to joy and new life, but which also describes our path and our calling through difficulties, through suffering and yes, through death to joys and to new life.

Let me thank everyone involved: The stewards, the readers, the cleaners, the altar servers, the sacristans, those who have led the Stations of the Cross and the catechists who led them for the children, those in the music ministry, the person who produced our Easter Garden, and of course those responsible for the wonderful floral display.

I also offer my personal thanks for your Easter offering, your gift to me.
