It was great to finally return to the Parish Hall after the 10.30 mass for refreshments last week, and those of us there offer a big Thank You to the parishioners who wanted to celebrate and promote this communal activity, for treating us to the drinks! Back to normal this week though, I am afraid.
MONDAY MASS Please note, we will reintroduce the Monday morning 10.00 mass from Aug 23rd.
WEB MASS and LIVE STREAMING – An Appeal.
We have recorded a Sunday Mass each (and nearly every) week since Lockdown began, and made it available on the website to be viewed at convenience. It has involved a great deal of effort especially on the part of Peter Murphy who records and edits the mass into the classy production that many people view or have viewed. It has been much appreciated by those who are isolating and many others besides – all over the world! We and they are hugely grateful to him.
However this cannot go on forever and the next best thing will be to “live-stream” services in the church. This would have the spin-off advantage of enabling special events like baptisms, First Holy Communions, confirmations, weddings, and funerals to be viewed by guests unable to physically attend for whatever reason.
BUT, this will involve a cost of approximately £3000.
This is a one-off cost and so we are appealing for your help. If you can make a donation – small or large – we would be very grateful. Donations are gift-aidable so if you want to send a cheque then please mention this or if you want to donate directly into our account (see “finances”, overleaf/above) then please let us know that you are doing so and tell us if you are a tax payer.

Meantime, in church please:
- Continue to cleanse your hands on entry.
- Continue to wear masks on Sundays unless you are in space or are exempt.
- At weekday masses you only need to wear masks if you are close to someone else.
- Socially distance 1metre. In other words, sit wherever you like but keep a space between yourself and anyone not in your bubble!
- Continue to make your Offertory Contribution on entry. We will reintroduce the collection purses soon.
- Continue to follow the Track and Trace procedures at weekends only.
- Hymn books are to be used at the 10.30 mass, but please return them after use.
- Only frequently used non-absorbent “touch points” have to be cleansed after mass.

SEASON OF CREATION
The celebration throughout September recalls the teaching of Laudato Si. Titled “A home for all”, it is designated to enable Christians to come together to care for our Common Home through prayer and action. There is, as part of the season, a highly commended free live event: “The Cry of Creation – A Study Day on Laudato Si on Saturday 4th September, 11 am-12.30 pm” Fr Ashley Beck, priest of the Archdiocese of Southwark and Associate Professor at St Mary’s University, Twickenham, who specialises in Catholic Social Teaching, will explore its contents and explain its crucial relevance.
