From The Conference of Bishops of England and Wales on THE SUNDAY OBLIGATION:

Since the beginning of the pandemic our judgment has been that the Sunday Obligation has been impeded and could be be fulfilled in other ways. Thank God that this situation has now changed. Most people have resumed normal activities, so we believe that the reasons which have prevented Catholics from attending Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation no longer apply.

We understand there will still be some who do not feel safe enough to return to Mass. It has always been the understanding of the Church that when the freedom of to attend Mass in person is impeded for a serious reason, this is not a breach of the Sunday Obligation.

Secretary to Episcopal Vicar for South East London 

and Commissions for Racial Equality and Education

This is initially a 12 month contract for 3 days per week, based in Blackheath to support the newly created Episcopal Vicar function.  This is a senior secretarial position which requires someone with considerable previous secretarial experience and excellent organisational skills.  Must be self-motivated.

 

Diocesan Central Services Administrator

Based in Bowen House, SE1 this is a full time administrative position which will provide support for a variety of functions as well as covering reception duties.  Must have previous admin/secretarial experience and be very adaptable to changing priorities.

FRIENDS OF ST. THOMAS MOORE SUMMER FAYRE – SATURDAY, 8^th JUNE 1 – 4 PM

No entrance fee – all welcome.  Lots of stalls running activities for young and old include – BBQ, Grand Raffle, Home-made cales, tombola, live music, Licensed Bar and lots more.  All funds are in support of all the students at St. Thomas Moore School.

 

ARCHDIOCESE OF SOUTHWARK 2022 SPRING ASSEMBLY by the Justice and Peace Commission on Saturday, 25^th June, 2022 at St Paul Catholic Church, Dover, Kent, CT16 1RU.  Preceeded by Mass at 10.00 am at St. Edmunds, Dover CT16 1BB.  Registration 10.40 am.  Programme 11am to 4pm.  Entitled: Caught in the Act: Tackling the injustice of the Nationality and Borders Act:  Everyone welcome.  Entrance is free.  Lunch provided.  Donations suggested.

The Parish Safeguarding Team and representatives from the Diocesan Safeguarding Team will be here on Saturday 28th May 2022 from 9.00 -12.00 noon to process new DBS clearance for you.. The process requires you to attend with three pieces of identification including photographic evidence such as a passport or driving licence and a current utility bill/ bank statement/P60 with your current address.

CHURCH CLEANING

Please note a revised rota for week commencing Monday, 2 May is available for collection from the cleaners cupboard in the Sacristy. We now have two new groups. Each group will clean every ten weeks instead of six weeks previously.

Dear Parishioners

Tuesday is a day of prayer for survivors of sexual abuse, including those who are survivors of abuse by clergy or others in the church. Our thoughts are often drawn to the perpetrators of this terrible crime and bringing them to justice but our prayers should begin with asking God for healing of the damage done to those who suffer this horror. It is a life changing event for them.
