CHRIST, THE WISDOM OF GOD

Today, we celebrate the foolishness of God that is wiser than any human wisdom; the utter folly of his love that allowed the destruction of the temple of the body of his Son, and we dedicate ourselves anew to the Law of the Lord which gives wisdom to the simple.

PADDY McMAHON RIP: Many parishioners will remember Paddy McMahon who travelled with us many times to Medjugorje. Sadly, we have heard he has died peacefully in Ireland. Please remember him and all the family in your prayers. He was Margaret Bird’s cousin.

At the beginning of Lent we renew our response to the Covenant, the pact of Love that God made with each of us at our Baptism. Imagine what news it must have been to Noah, alone in a drowned world, when he learned that God’s love had not abandoned, nor ever would abandon, the earth and its creatures.

LENT COURSE WITH CHURCHES TOGETHER IN OLD BEXLEY:   This year’s course is The Joy of the Gospel which opens up Pope Francis’ inspiring and acclaimed reflections in Evangelli gaudium. Join old friends and new at Baldwyns Park Baptist Church, Tuesday mornings, 10 for 10.30am, from 20 February, and the URC Hurst Road Thursday evenings 7 for 7.30pm, from 22nd February. On Thursday 22nd February the Anglican Bishop of Rochester, James Longstaff, will lead the group. CONFIRMATION CLASSES:   Please be advised that the first Confirmation class will be on Thursday 22nd February 2018 from 7.30pm to 8.30pm in The Presbytery. THE SPUC GROUP would like to thank all parishioners for their very generous donations to our White Flower Appeal in January. The amount raised was £328.18.
