BEXLEY DEANERY DEVELOPING WORLD GROUP:   Thank you for your kind donation of £109.85 on Sunday 2nd January. We will be giving £500 to two further projects this month. The first to buy small livestock (rabbits, goats & pigs) to distribute to poor families in the northern province of Rwanda. The second will be to build toilets for a Church/Meeting Place in a village Cote d’Ivoire, West Africa. Please contact our Parish representative, Maria Ward, on 01322 555553 if you have any queries.

CONFIRMATION CLASSES:   Please be advised that the first Confirmation Class will be on Thursday 22nd February 2018 from 19.30 – 20.30 in the Presbytery. For the first session, we ask that at least one parent or guardian to attend also. LENT COURSE WITH CHURCHES TOGETHER IN OLD BEXLEY:   This year’s course is The Joy of the Gospel which opens up Pope Francis’ inspiring and acclaimed reflections in Evangelli gaudium. As Paula Gooder the author says, “It is the joy of the Gospel that radiates from Pope Francis himself and offers us a beacon of what we might become if only we can take this message seriously”. Join old friends and new at Baldwyns Park Baptist Church, Tuesday mornings, 10:00 for 10:30am, from 20th February, and the URC Hurst Road, Thursday evenings, 7:00 for 7:30pm, from 22nd February. On Thursday evening 22nd February, the Anglican Bishop of Rochester, James Longstaff, will lead the group. OUR LADY’S FILM EVENING – Wednesday 21st February: Documentary (and short movie) on Blessed John Henry Newman’s life and places in England where he lived and worked – from London to Oxford, from Littlemore to Birmingham. Bar open, charity stall, all welcome, 7pm for 7:30pm start.

There is an urgent need for funds for essential and expensive repairs to the church central heating and roof.  All profits from parish events will go to the Church for this purpose and it is hoped that parishioners will support the events. It was agreed to hold the following events: VARIETY & CABARET EVENING: Probably on 14th April.  ST JOHN FISHER FEAST DAY & BBQ: on 23rd June.  BARN DANCE: in September.  QUIZ: in October/November, and plan for: DINNER & DANCE, 60/70S DISCO, VOLUNTEERS PARTY. Bar will be open, light refreshments will be provided. Recruitment for teams to organise the various events has started and please add your names to the lists in the porch or with Anne Rayer after 10.30 Mass, or at anne.rayer@uwclub.net.  A wide range of talents are required: from preparing or clearing the hall to being able to design and print the tickets needed or to design posters etc. YOUR PARISH NEEDS YOU.
