Dear Parishioners,
What can I say, but “Thank You All” for helping me celebrate my birthday? So many came to my “pre-lunch drinks”. So many gave cards and unsolicited (!) gifts. The cakes were marvellous, and the food and soft drinks were also a marvelous gift and I must say thanks to those who helped set the whole thing up. I felt so privileged and the reason for that is that I am so privileged! Thank you.
God Bless, Fr Doug
QUIZ NIGHT: Our annual quiz night will be on Saturday 3rd October. Tickets now available after Sunday masses
SEASON OF CREATION Film Screening
As part of our celebration of the Season of Creation, we invite parishioners to a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing on Friday October 2nd at 7.00 in our Hall.
The film presents current evidence on climate change and environmental challenges and encourages discussion about how communities can respond. The event reflects Pope Francis’ call in Laudato Si’ to care for our common home and act in solidarity with those most affected by environmental degradation. All are welcome. Refreshments will be provided.
CAFOD Family Fast Day October 2nd
Please donate to our Family Fast Day parish collection on 3rd/4th October. Put your faith into action and share the Lord’s love by supporting our global neighbours experiencing shortages of food and safe water. Your gift can support children like Tayla in Zimbabwe to stay in school by helping communities and schools provide nourishing meals, improve access to water and grow food in school gardens. Use the CAFOD envelope in church, donate online at cafod.org.uk/envelope or call 0303 303 3030.
HARVEST FESTIVAL
Our Harvest Festival will be on Sunday 4th October at 10.30 mass. We are collecting non-perishable food and other essential items from next Sunday onwards for the Manna Day Centre. For a list of most needed items please visit: http://www.mannasociety.org.uk Please place items on the sanctuary. 90% of their foodstuffs are donated so are therefore critically important to them.
