Dear Parishioners,I shall be 70 by then! 

To be clear, a few years ago the Parish celebrated my Ruby Jubilee of Priesthood. I think that it was appropriate for the Parish to celebrate such an event of the Church.

My birthday is different, and isn’t particularly a Church or parish affair. I simply want to treat you all to a drink (Wines and soft drinks) to celebrate with me. I hope you might accompany me in a prayer of thanksgiving, but please nothing else! Your presence will be my present!

Chris’s funeral will take place on Wednesday 26 August at 11.00.

 

WORLD WATER WEEK: 23–27 AUGUST 2026 

Many Christian families in the Holy Land receive mains water only a few days each month and depend on rooftop tanks to store it safely. Friends of the Holy Land replaces old, rusting and leaking tanks and installs solar panels where needed. THE ARCHBISHOP’S CERTIFICATE

A two-year online course for all in Southwark who wish to understand their faith in a more profound way and be able to share it with both confidence and joy.  The course begins online on 10 October 2026 from 2pm to 4pm. The total cost of the 2-year course is £800, £400 is payable before the start of each academic year. Registration must be completed in advance and there is a non-refundable registration fee of £50.

SCHOOL GOVERNORS AND ACADEMY DIRECTORS

Do you have the skills needed to be a Foundation Governor of a Catholic school or a director at a Catholic Academy, and can you spare a few hours a month?

The role does not require you to be a parent or to have experience of the education sector. As a Foundation Governor you represent the Archbishop in his ministry as the first teacher of the Diocese. A Foundation Governor must therefore be a practising Catholic who is in full sacramental communion with the Church.

HOSPITAL ADMISSIONS. 

If you (or a family member) are admitted to hospital, do ask that your record indicates that you are a Roman Catholic if you would like a visit from the Chaplaincy or to receive Holy Communion. Hospital staff may forget to ask you about your religious background and due to data regulations, the Chaplaincy team cannot approach you unless your religion is on your admission record.
