Welcome to Advent – The colour purple is to be seen in the vestments, the banners and even the newsletters! The Gloria is dropped and won’t return till the season of Christmas. Advent is a time of waiting and watching. Think of a restaurant. In a poor one, the staff are stretched and run off their feet. In a good one there is a waiter, one who watches and waits for you to be ready to order or to need some service. We need to be waiters, watching and waiting for the presence of Jesus.
“My soul is waiting for the Lord, more than the watchman for the dawn” (Psalm 130)
