COVID PROCEDURES
In church please:
• Continue to cleanse your hands on entry.
• Continue to wear masks on Sundays unless you are in space or are exempt.
• At weekday masses you only need to wear masks if you are close to someone else.
• Socially distance 1metre. In other words, keep a space between yourself and anyone else.
• Continue to make your Offertory Contribution on entry.
Today is Home Mission Sunday, when we pray that the Good News will be shared in our own environment, so if you think that we encounter God through participating in mass at St. John Fisher – and we do – then now is a good time to consider encouraging others to join us. In particular we are missing at least 50 people who used to attend before Lockdown. Is there anyone you can encourage to come along or to return?
In two weeks time we will be having a meeting of the Parish Council. If there is anything you wish to be raised please let one of the councilors know. The coming priority for the council is to gear up for Stewardship in order to enable everyone to take up their rightful role in the community by identifying and volunteering their gifts in a meaningful and rewarding way in line with our Safeguarding Policy. In the meantime there are several requests for help in the items below.
CHILDREN’S LITURGY GROUP
We are happy to announce that Children’s Liturgy of the word will resume on Sunday 4th October during the 10.30am mass. This will be our first meet up since March 2020 so we are very excited to welcome the children back and to see familiar faces and friends again. Initially meetings will be held once a month on the first Sunday.
We are always looking for new volunteers to help with Children’s Liturgy. If you would like to join our small but dedicated team please speak to Father Doug or Angela Underwood.
MEETING PLACE
We are now open in the Hall on Wednesdays from 9.30 till 1.30 with a lunchtime menu available. All are welcome; spread the word. WE NEED HELP with putting up tables and taking them down again. We would want to establish a rota for this. Please ring Anne Rayer for more details.
THE PRESBYTERY FRONT DOOR
I wish to express a huge ‘Thank You’ to the parishioner who very generously arranged to renew the presbytery front door. It is now more secure and more draught proof. Note to key holders: It is the same key, but upside down!
CHURCH FLOWERS
Everyone enjoys the flowers in church but unfortunately our team has become smaller recently. Is there anyone, or perhaps two friends, who could occasionally select flowers and arrange them either in Oasis or very simply in a vase? We always try to work in pairs on a rota basis and I am always happy to assist or advise. Please phone me – Sue Murphy on 01322 528224.
SUNDAY COFFEE MORNING – after 10.30 mass
This provides a wonderful opportunity for growth in our parish as a community. We are most grateful to those who have run the coffee bar over the past few years as well as to Noel who opens up the bar! We now need others to assist. Can you help on an occasional basis? Please contact Anne Rayer (01322 523499) or Carol Anderson (07913 698912).
