MEETING PLACE
We are open in the Hall on Wednesdays from 10.00 till 12.00 All are welcome; spread the word.
This week will be the last week that we record a private Sunday Mass and put it up on the website to be viewed during the week. We didn’t imagine when we began doing this back when the Church was first closed in 2020, that we would end up doing it every single Saturday until now. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to Peter Murphy who has undertaken the recording and production of the mass and to the many readers who supplied recordings for the mass. I have heard from so many people, not just from this parish, but from other parishes in this country and beyond, expressing their appreciation. We have no intention of leaving them bereft!
From next weekend onwards, we will stream ALL our masses live instead, using the website. This will mean that it will be possible to view weekday masses, Baptisms, Holy Communions, Confirmations, Weddings and Funerals via a link on the website, anywhere in the world.
The equipment has now been installed and tested, and next week we will begin. Once again, a huge Thank You to Peter Murphy who has engineered this difficult project AND to everyone who has recognised its worth by contributing funds to our appeal.
COVID PROCEDURES
In church please:
- Continue to cleanse your hands on entry.
- Continue to wear masks on Sundays unless you are in space or are exempt.
- At weekday masses you only need to wear masks if you are close to someone else.
- Socially distance 1metre. In other words, sit wherever you like but keep a space between yourself and anyone not in your bubble!
- Continue to make your Offertory Contribution on entry.
- Only frequently used non-absorbent “touch points” have to be cleansed after mass.
WEB MASS and LIVE STREAMING
As mentioned above, the recorded Sunday Mass will not be available after this week. Instead all masses can be viewed live via the website. This is possible because there is a camera installed in the Church. The camera is fixed at the back of Church and while we don’t intend to pick out faces it is inevitable that the faces of readers will be on the broadcast, along with altar servers and anyone emerging from the door to the sacristy (including returning from the toilets). Also a brief profile will be visible as people turn away after receiving Holy Communion. If anyone has any personal concerns about this, please contact Fr Doug and individual resolutions can be found. Live streaming is being tested on Wednesday and Friday this week and can be seen by clicking on this link:
CHURCH FLOWERS: I know everyone enjoys seeing fresh flowers in church but unfortunately our team has become even smaller recently. Is there anyone, or perhaps two friends, who could occasionally buy a few flowers and arrange them either in Oasis or very simply in a vase? We always try to work in pairs on a rota basis and I am always happy to assist or advise. Please phone me – Sue Murphy on 01322 528224.
SUNDAY COFFEE MORNING – after 10.30 mass
This provides a wonderful opportunity for growth in our parish as a community. We are most grateful to Teresa Gilby and Carole Hughes have run the coffee bar over the past few years as well as to Noel who opens up the bar! We now need others to assist. Can you help on an occasional basis by taking a turn on a rota? Please contact Anne Rayer (01322 523499) or Carol Anderson (07913 698912). Several people have already stepped up and we are grateful to you.
