Wednesday is a world day of prayer for the Care of Creation. Maybe you would like to join together wherever you are on that day in this prayer from Pope Francis:

All powerful God, you are present in the universe and in the smallest of your creatures.

You embrace with your tenderness all that exists.

Pour out upon us the power of your love, that we may protect life and beauty.

Fill us with your peace, that we may live as brothers and sisters, harming no one.

O God of the poor, help us to rescue the abandoned and forgotten of this earth, so precious in your eyes.

Bring healing to our lives, that we may protect the world and not prey on it, that we may sow beauty, not pollution and destruction.

Touch the hearts of those who look only for gain at the expense of the poor and the earth.

Teach us to discover the worth of each thing, to be filled with awe and contemplation, to recognize that we are profoundly united with every creature as we journey towards your infinite light.

We thank you for being with us each day.                                                           From Laudato Si’

COVID PROCEDURES

In church please:

·      Continue to cleanse your hands on entry.

·      Continue to wear masks on Sundays unless you are in space or are exempt.

·      At weekday masses you only need to wear masks if you are close to someone else.

·      Socially distance 1metre. In other words, sit wherever you like but keep a space between yourself and anyone not in your bubble!

·      Continue to make your Offertory Contribution on entry.

·      Only frequently used non-absorbent “touch points” have to be cleansed after mass.

MONDAY MASS is back at 10.00 mass.

WEB MASS and LIVE STREAMING – An Appeal.

Many thanks to all who have contributed. We now have received just over £2000 and so we are closing in on our target of £3000.   We have started testing the system and if you want to see how far we have got, here is a link to this week’s web Mass as it was being filmed by the new streaming camera.  The lack of sound is deliberate as that was needed for the video!

SUNDAY COFFEE MORNING – after 10.30 mass

This provides a wonderful opportunity for growth in our parish as a community.  We are most grateful to Teresa Gilby and Carole Hughes have run the coffee bar over the past few years as well as to Noel who opens up the bar! We now need others to assist. Can you help on an occasional basis by taking a turn on a rota?  Please contact Anne Rayer (01322 523499) or Carol Anderson (07913 698912). Several people have already stepped up and we are grateful to you.

VACANCY – SITE MAINTENANCE AND CARETAKER

Based on the Cathedral site in London SE1, which includes residential and office accommodation, public access spaces and a car park, the postholder’s role is to provide handyman/maintenance services and act as a caretaker for the site.  See www.rcsouthwark.co.uk or email hr@rcaos.org.uk for more details.  Closing date 3rd September 2021

SEASON OF CREATION

The celebration throughout September recalls the teaching of Laudato Si. Titled “A home for all”, it is designated to enable Christians to come together to care for our Common Home through prayer and action. There is, as part of the season, a highly commended free live event:
The Cry of Creation – A Study Day on Laudato Si on Saturday 4th September, 11 am-12.30 pm. To access this free live event go to www.whatgoodnews.org – No registration is needed. The talks will be available subsequently on the same website.
