27th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Faith gives us a new vision of the world. Without it we see only the darker side of life. We are still slaves. It is faith which liberates us and makes us see the Spirit of power and love at work in our lives.

If you can stay for the reception afterwards in the hall, for catering reasons, it would help if you could confirm by telephoning/texting Francine after 1.30pm on 07743 974349. Also, there will be a vigil for Olga at 4pm on Wednesday 5th October. All welcome.
Liam was in the Royal Engineers and he and his fellow “sappers” were responsible for putting together and maintaining the Mulberry Harbour which enabled the allied forces to bring ashore much of the equipment and supplies needed to liberate France and eventually end the war. After training on the Isle of Wight Liam’s unit was given the order to prepare for action. He takes up the story:
HARVEST FESTIVAL: On Sunday the 9th October we will be celebrating our Harvest Festival. As usual we are asking for donations of non-perishable items which will be given to the Manna Centre and other local charities. The children may, if they wish, bring their donations to the festival in a box or bag they have decorated themselves with a Harvest theme. The children can then take their gifts to the altar at the offertory.
HARVEST CAKE SALE: The Children’s Liturgy Group will be holding a harvest cake sale on Sunday 9th October after 10.30am mass to raise money for CAFOD. Please help us to make it a success by contributing some cakes. All donations welcome. Thank you for your support.
CAFOD SPEAKER will be coming to speak to us on the weekend of 8th/9th October at all masses.
THE 32ND ANNUAL NATIONAL ROSARY CRUSADE OF REPARATION to be held on Saturday 8th October. Assemble outside Westminster Cathedral (Victoria Stn). APF RED BOXES/MISSIO – Would anyone who has a red APF box, please empty them and put the cash (in larger coins and notes if possible) or cheques paid to St John Fisher Church in an envelope. If anyone hasn’t got a red box you can still give money to the missions by putting in an envelope and putting in the collection. Please write APF, your name and address on the envelope and put in the collection or hand in at the presbytery, so a receipt can be sent to you. Any problems about APF contact Sue Mantle 01322 558965, or e-mail email@example.com
