Following our Parish Council Meeting, there are several steps we are planning to take or which by now are already taking place:
The church will be ‘vented’ between masses and for good measure, the door handles have received a special treatment to prevent the virus adhering to them.
There can now be limited use of the toilets.
From the start of Advent
The choir will sing at the 10.30 mass but there can be no congregational singing
Parish Mass Books will be available to take home and bring to mass for a nominal deposit of £5, which is returnable. Each new book in the series can be obtained by returning the previous one.
The hall will be open after Friday mass and Sunday 10.30 mass. Initially BYO tea/coffee
Collections for other church organisations will follow on from this week’s CAFOD collection –
Next week will be divided between Home Mission, World Communications and Day for Life.
Baptisms have resumed and Reconciliation is on Saturday at 11.00 or by appointment.

As the virus strikes hard for a second time, let us be mindful of all that we can do to keep ourselves and each other safe. Let us also keep in prayer the brave medical staff who face danger in caring for those who have contracted the virus. They deserve our undying gratitude.
In our own church we are taking steps to adjust to the latest advice and also face the onset of colder weather during which we will have the church heating on. The church will be ‘vented’ between masses and for good measure, the door handles have received a special treatment to prevent the virus adhering to them. There can now be limited use of the toilets.

As we move beyond September we begin to anticipate a long autumn ahead with colder weather to come. We are seeking clarification on the interpretation of many of the rules we have been asked to apply and where appropriate, a reinterpretation so that we can worship and celebrate in reasonable comfort. The parish council is meeting on Monday and we will be looking at what we can do to make life better in the parish. If you have any ideas, do get in touch. A top priority will be to get our hall open again so that we can meet socially within the rules, conduct catechetical programmes and if possible generate some income.

God Bless
