TODAY IS SEA SUNDAY When the Church prays for all those who live and work at sea. Without them we would not have most of the items we buy in the shops. Today’s second collection is for the Apostleship of the Sea (AoS), the Church’s official maritime welfare agency. It supports seafarers both practically and spiritually. This collection is vital to enable it to continue its work, so please give generously and remember seafarers in your prayers. Thank you. FR PETER RYMAN RIP Fr Ryman, a former Parish Priest at St Stephen’s Church in Welling has sadly died. His funeral will take place at Our Lady of the Sorrows, The Friary, Friary Road, Peckham SE15 1RH on Monday 17th July at 12 noon. His body will be received into the church on Sunday 16th July at 6pm. After Mass there will be a Holy Hour. We welcome Christ today as the women of Shunem welcomed the prophet Elisha.   But the Christ we welcome is the Christ who gave his life for others, and our celebration would be a mockery if we were not prepared to welcome him in one another, even in the least of his brethren.

VOLUNTEERING: The Greenwich and Bexley Community Hospice (Abbey Wood) need the following:
       Maintenance Support Volunteers – to support the team with the maintenance and upkeep of Hospice buildings, based  at the Hospice itself but also supporting the warehouse and retail outlets. In addition to basic DIY, volunteers will also support the team during building projects. Do you have any skills you can offer?
       Driver or Escort for Patient Transport – for morning or afternoon collection of patients to and from the Hospice to attend the Day Hospice, Sharnells. Sharnells runs on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Commitment: to collect patients from home and transport to Sharnells by 10am and then pick up for return around 3pm. If you can spare one day a week and would like further details, please contact Elaine in the Volunteers’ Department, elainejermyn@gbch.org.uk Thank you!

ANNUAL LESNES ABBEY PROCESSION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT (with the Roman Catholic Deaneries of Greenwich and Bexley): Sunday 25th June 2017, gather at 3pm. Please assemble at your parish marker. DARTFORD EUCHARISTIC PROCESSION: Sunday 2nd July, 3.00pm – 5.00 pm, from St Anselm’s, West Hill to St. Vincent’s, Temple Hill. This annual procession starts at St. Anselm’s, Dartford, through the town with a special service at One Bell Course, and then on its way to St Vincent’s. We ask that as many people attend this witness to our faith through the streets of Dartford. See poster in the porch for details.
