Dear Parishioners,

You may have noted that I am praying the “Eucharistic Prayers for Various Occasions” on the Sundays of Easter. Last week we had No. 3, “Jesus, the Way to the Father”. This week will be No. 2, “God guides his Church along the Way of Salvation”. They are beautiful prayers.

Meanwhile, Mr Trump’s War continues – his war with Pope Leo and the Church, that is!

On the day of one of his most bitter attacks last week, the daily mass reading from the Acts of the Apostles had this prayer from Saints Peter and John after they’d been assaulted:

“And now Lord, take note of their threats and help your servants to proclaim your message with all boldness”.

We might pray along with them for Pope Leo and for those bishops in America brave enough to speak out with the prophetic voice of the Church. “Lord, help us find your peace.”

God Bless,                                Fr Doug

Dear Parishioners,

We thank God for the temporary ceasefire in Mr Trump’s War. No one takes him at his word but to threaten to annihilate a whole civilisation with his military might is way beyond any moral realm, it was a threat Pope Leo described as “totally unacceptable”.

Speaking to the tens of thousands of pilgrims gathered in St Peter’s Square on Sunday, Pope Leo XIV urged “those who have the power to unleash wars” to choose peace. This should not be a peace “imposed by force”, he stressed, but one achieved through dialogue – “not with the desire to dominate others, but to encounter them”. “Let those who have weapons, lay them down!”, he said. He continues to call for peace. In our thoughts and conversations let us be unequivocal in calling for peace and take the lead from our Holy Father.

God Bless,                                Fr Doug

“The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.” (Isaiah 9:2)

We hold on to the message of Easter that new life rises and hope is renewed even in the darkest times. Thank you for standing with our mission in support of our brothers and sisters living through the hardest conditions experienced in the Holy Land in living memory. May this Easter bring renewed hope, peace and dignity to all those living in the Holy Land and to you and your families.
