Dear Parishioners,

‘Good to be back from Ireland where the people were horrified to see the racial violence occurring in the north of their country and moreover, very angry that much of it was organised by racist groups in our country and elsewhere. We must take responsibility to do what we can to combat racist views on immigration in our own communities.

God Bless,                                Fr Doug

PARISH ANNUAL MEETING:  We will have our yearly meeting at 12.00 on Sunday (June 14th) in the hall. The various parish groups or groupings will present their reports and it is a great opportunity to see what is happening and pose suggestions and challenges for the future. Please take time to your support and interest.

PARISH FEAST DAY BARBECUE

This year our summer celebration will be on Sunday 12th July. Put it in your diaries!

We need volunteers for various tasks but most immediately for a team who are able to cook burgers and sausages on a barbecue. Hopefully with a good few volunteers no one will need to be overworked! We will be seeking more help as the days go by.

SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE ANNUAL CELEBRATION MASS

This takes place at our Cathedral, presided by Archbishop John on Saturday 11th July at 3.00pm.

There is a special invitation for couples celebrating milestone anniversaries this year to renew their marriage vows, but there is a general invitation for anyone to attend. You are invited!

CHURCH FLOWERS

Could you join our small team of church flower arrangers? We usually work in pairs on Friday mornings after mass, normally once a month. It may involve tidying or clearing existing flowers or sometimes buying new ones (parish expense). Ring me for more info 01322 528224. Sue Murphy.

HOSPITAL ADMISSIONS.

If you (or a family member) are admitted to hospital, do ask that your record indicates that you are a Roman Catholic if you would like a visit from the Chaplaincy or to receive Holy Communion. Hospital staff may forget to ask you about your religious background and due to data regulations, the Chaplaincy team cannot approach you unless your religion is on your admission record.
