Dear Parishioners,

You may have noted that I am praying the “Eucharistic Prayers for Various Occasions” on the Sundays of Easter. Last week we had No. 3, “Jesus, the Way to the Father”. This week will be No. 2, “God guides his Church along the Way of Salvation”. They are beautiful prayers.

Meanwhile, Mr Trump’s War continues – his war with Pope Leo and the Church, that is!

On the day of one of his most bitter attacks last week, the daily mass reading from the Acts of the Apostles had this prayer from Saints Peter and John after they’d been assaulted:

“And now Lord, take note of their threats and help your servants to proclaim your message with all boldness”.

We might pray along with them for Pope Leo and for those bishops in America brave enough to speak out with the prophetic voice of the Church. “Lord, help us find your peace.”

God Bless,                                Fr Doug

EASTER GARDEN DONATIONS:  Once again, our Easter Garden Donations are going to FRIENDS OF THE HOLY LAND.

We have received this message of gratitude from them:

“The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.” (Isaiah 9:2)  Thank you

GEORGE BIRCH RIP:  Please pray for the repose of the soul of George. His funeral will be on Tuesday 28th April at 11.00.

ROSARY IN MAY – Friday evenings

The rosary is a way of praying any time, and in any place, but in October and May it has become our tradition to pray it together once a week. We have been using this as an opportunity to pray it in different ways. This May we will be using Archbishop John’s Romero Rosary, praying a mystery each week. There will be a scripture reading, a reflection from Archbishop Romero, and then time for our own reflection before we pray a decade of the rosary. We will be praying the Mysteries of mercy and Compassion on Friday evenings from 6.30 – 7.00, starting Friday 1st May

PARISH FEAST DAY BARBECUE:  This year our summer celebration will be on Sunday 12th July. Put it in your diaries!
