Dear Parishioners,
Welcome to the start of Holy Week. Next Sunday will be Easter Sunday of course.
It is very easy to jump from Jesus’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem (today) to his Resurrection (next Sunday), without, as it were, stopping at the stations in between. It is much better to travel the journey with Our Lord, if possible, by participating in some of the liturgies that take place here in church. (See below)
Do you remember when Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth died? We compiled a Book of Sympathy and sent it to Buckingham Palace. We received this reply from King Charles this week:
The card is on the sanctuary if you’d like to see it.
God Bless, Fr Doug
DIOCESAN LENTEN RETREAT:
You can catch up on the reflection and prayers for Palm Sunday, if you missed the session in our hall on Monday. They will be at:
Tuesday 10.30 – 12.00 URC
Wednesday 7.30 p.m. – 9.00 p.m. St John’s Church
MAUNDY THURSDAY
We remind you that we hope to be able to resume receiving Holy Communion “under both kinds” if we wish to, starting at The Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Maundy Thursday. It will depend on there being sufficient numbers of our Eucharistic Ministers being happy to administer the Chalice. Let us be clear that no one is obliged to receive Holy Communion from the shared chalice and that Jesus Christ is received sacramentally, whole, and entire, under one kind. The totality of the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of the Lord is received in either or both species.
QUIET MORNINGS FOR HOLY WEEK AT SANCTUARY:
To aid space for quiet prayer and reflection 2 quiet mornings are on offer from 10.30 to noon on
Good Friday 7th April and Holy Saturday 8th April. The format is very simple – time to reflect on the readings of the day, with prayer spaces around the house and garden for your own reflection. for info/to book please email tkilcullen@live.co.uk / 077977978536
