Dear Parishioners
The week has been dominated by the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and there has been quite a wide range of reaction. A few people have found the coverage to be tiresome but most feel a connection at some level and a desire to participate in some way in what is going on. Only the hardy have queued for hours and hours to pay their respect as Her Majesty lies “In State” but all of us can at least return to the prayerful intervention that our Archbishop led us in last week:
“We give thanks to Almighty God for Her Majesty’s life of unfailing dedication and the outstanding example of Her Majesty’s service, faithful unto death. We now pray for the repose of her soul, remembering the promise of Christ, who is the Resurrection and the life: ‘I am with you always, even until the end of time.’ (Mt 28:20) May Her Majesty rest in peace and rise in glory. We pray too for our King, for the Queen Consort and for all the Royal Family at this time.”
Also pages that will form our own Book of Condolence are available for signing in the Church Foyer. It will remain there over the next few weeks before we bind it and sent it to the Palace.
We beseech you Almighty God, that your servant Elizabeth, who by your mercy received the government of this realm, and who dedicated her life entirely to the service of her people, may now rest from her labours in the peace of Christ which surpasses all understanding. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
I shall be away this week. Masses will be said by clergy from Erith, to whom we are very grateful.
Note though that there is no mass on Tuesday.
God Bless, Fr Doug

Please keep him in your prayers.
