Prayer of St. Alphonsus – (to be used when making spiritual communion)
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in this Most Holy Sacrament of the altar.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come spiritually into my soul so that. I may unite myself wholly to You now and forever. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Dear Parishioners,
At last, we have been given permission to open our church, but not for public services.
St. John Fisher will be open for prayer before the Blessed Sacrament between 10.00 and 11.00 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, starting this Monday. Strict instructions have been imposed:
• Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will commence before the doors open and conclude after they are locked. There will be no Benediction.
• Doors will remain open to ensure good ventilation and to avoid touching of handles etc.
• Anyone who is unwell or who is isolating should not attend.
• Anyone under 16 must be with an adult!
• A limited number of people will be able to enter the church and “take a pew” with social distancing applied except for members of the same household or in a Johnstone Bubble.
• If there are no vacant spaces you will be asked to wait while Fr Doug encourages someone to leave!
• Hands will need to be cleansed on entry. We have a hand dispenser available for those who do not have their own.
• Votive candles can be lit by taking a light from ones already lit. No matches or lighters will be made available from the church.
• While face coverings can be reassuring, masks will not be a requirement.
• Given that the virus only lasts on surfaces for a limited time, different seating areas in the church will be used each day.
• There will be no toilet facilities available.
• Two stewards are to be on duty each time the church is open to ensure this safe practice.
We should be very grateful to the teams of stewards who have volunteered to staff the church during these opening times. One will be in the porch to give instructions and one will be in the church to supervise. They will act on a rota. Without these volunteers stepping forward the church would not have been able to open, and indeed many churches are not able to open.
There will also be teams of cleaners who will take turns to cleanse specific areas of the church like grab rails, handles, and so on a regular basis.
OUR SUNDAY PARISH MASS will be available on the website in the (now) normal way.
PRAYER INTENTIONS
We cannot use our parish prayer intentions book because the virus can be passed from one to another via its surface so I will place at the foot of the sanctuary a basket and anyone who wishes can bring in or send in prayer intentions which those in church will pray for in a general way and which I will offer up in our Sunday Mass. None will be read, let alone read out loud.
• If you haven’t found the parish mass, then on the website: http://www.stjohnfisherbexley.org go to the Sunday Mass button and click on there.
• Also on the website is the ‘photo’ of many of us enjoying coffee after Sunday Mass. It is virtually (!) real. If you want to join us, send your selfie to Peter at contact@stjohnfisherbexley.org
• If you are a Parish Reader you can exercise your ministry by emailing Peter Murphy on contact@stjohnfisherbexley.org
• The parish office is open on a limited basis.
• If you want a mass offered then just write the details on an envelope enclosing the mass offering.
• You can receive this newsletter by email and also my mid-week “Ramblings” by emailing me at douglasbull@rcaos.org.uk
God Bless Fr Doug
