20th SUNDAY OF THE YEAR

Mercy to All Mankind
We tend to think of God as exclusively our own property. But he is God of all the world, of Christians and non-Christians alike; and today we celebrate his mercies to others who are not of our faith.

CAFOD “POWER TO BE” CAMPAIGN”: One in six people in the world don’t have access to electricity. CAFOD has launched a campaign to put pressure on Governments and the World Bank to support local renewable energy projects as a way of tackling poverty without harming the environment.
Here in the parish we held a picnic and nature walk to raise awareness of the campaign and over the next few weeks there will be two petitions at the back of the church to sign. One is to our local MPs urging the government to support measures to limit climate change, the other is to the World Bank calling on them to grant loans for efficient, clean projects that will bring power to the people in some of the poorest communities in the world.
Click on the “Power to Be” logo for more information from CAFOD or if you would like to sign these petitions on line the details are:-
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/pomfrey1 – to the MPs and Government asking them to act to limit climate change which has affects the developing world more than the developed world.

http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/pomfrey2 – To the World Bank, to support the provision of electricity to the poorest one sixth of the world.
These petitions will be available at the back of the church with Tony for signature next week. For more information call Noel or Tony on 01322 315755.
