MONASTIC CHOIR CONCERT: 3rd May 2017, 7.30 pm at St Anselm’s, West Hill, Dartford DA1 2HJ. The concert is led by the choir from St Elisabeth Convent, Minsk. The admission price is your voluntary donation and all proceeds will go to charity. After the concert, there will be a special exhibit from the workshops of St Elisabeth Convent. CHURCH FLOWERS: Thank you for all the kind comments about the flowers at Easter and many thanks for your support towards the costs of keeping the church decorated. So far this year, we have collected just over £50 from the wall box at the back of the church. Sue Murphy.

PARISH WEBSITE: The Parish website: stjohnfisherbexley.org has called in the decorators to give it a new look to celebrate its first Birthday. However, it’s got a long way to go to catch up with the Parish newsletter which is now 50 years old! It was launched at the end of April 1967 and is still going strong – 2,609 weeks later! EVENTS TEAM: Following the Christmas Fayre and the New Year Day Lunch, to assist Fr Christian, an Events Team has recently been set up to co-ordinate social events in the Parish. The Jazz Night was successfully organised by The Truman Girls and Cliff Thomas is organising a Quiz Night for 3rd June 2017 (see below). In the future, we hope to set up activities for some Friday evenings. Watch this space for future events. Contact no. 01322 523 499.

OUR LADY’S FILM EVENING – Wed 17th May when we will show “the best film ever made” about Fatima to celebrate the 100th anniversary. Film dramatizes the true story of 3 young shepherds who experienced apparitions with a “Lady from Heaven” between May and October 1917, and which culminated in the final prophesized miracle.
The film will be shown in St John Fisher Bexley Church Hall, admission free, light refreshments served, bar open, charity stall selling jams and cakes, and all are welcome. Arrivals from 7 pm for 7:30 pmstart.

Today as we hail Christ as our Lord and God we are filled  with the joy of the disciples in seeing the risen Lord.   In this season of renewal we are like those early Christians who “were filled with a joy so glorious that it cannot be described”.

JOHN STEPHEN BREEN RIP: Sadly we have received the news that John Breen died on 11th April. Please remember him and his family and friends in your prayers. John’s Funeral Mass will be held at St John Fisher on Monday 8th May at 12 noon.

PARISH WEBSITE: Our new website http://www.stjohnfisherbexley.org is one year old this weekend. Over that time we have had more than 2000 visitors to the site, most from the UK but also a number from the United States, Canada, Ireland, France, Brazil, India, South Africa, Belarus and Nigeria. The number of people looking at the site each week is gradually increasing. If you have any suggestions for information that would be useful for inclusion please drop a note into the presbytery or email admin@stjohnfisherbexley.org

JAZZ NIGHT: Chris, Elaine and Jo would like to thank everyone who came along to support Jazz Night last week and made it a huge success, raising £340 for Greenwich and Bexley Hospice. Well done everyone!

GOOD FRIDAY COLLECTION:   The collection at the Good Friday service was for the Holy Places.

EASTER OFFERING:   Parishioners are reminded that the Easter collection is for your Parish Priest. If you are going away and would still wish to donate, Gift Aiders can put their special envelopes into any collection before or after Easter. Those who donate to the loose collection, other than on Easter Sunday, will need to place donation in a seperate envelope marked “Easter Offering“, alternatively it can be posted through the presbytery letterbox.

OUR LADY’S FILM EVENING:   Wed 19th April inspirational movie on St Thomas More, the English Chancellor, who stood up to King Henry VIII when the King rejected the Roman Catholic Church to obtain a divorce and remarriage. Although this film is about St Thomas More, it provides important historical background to the life and times of our patronal Saint, John Fisher. Bar Open and charity stall. All welcome, 7pm for 7.30pm start.

KNIGHTS OF ST COLUMBA  would like to thank Fr Christian and the Parish for allowing them to hand out Keep Christ in Christmas posters, and for their generous donations great and small for the Knights of St Columba National Project, MISSO.
