Dear Parishioners, 

Emergency Lighting

You will be pleased to know that we have installed emergency lighting in the Church and in the Foyer.  Should there for any reason be a power cut, these lights will come on so that we can evacuate the areas more easily. You will also see that the security lighting round the church has been upgraded.

 

In this Jubilee Year we are encouraged to make at least one pilgrimage, but it does not have to be an expensive one to Rome or abroad, clocking up air miles. The Archbishop has designated our church and also St. John Vianney in Bexleyheath so that we can join with the other parishes of our Bexley Deanery, making our way from each of our churches on foot (or by bus) to SJV for a concluding Jubilee service together. CLERGY SUPPORT FUND:  Next week’s retiring collection is to help care for the clergy in their retirement, old age and at any time of ill-health. The diocese aims to provide dignity in retirement, usually after the age of 75.

 

THRIFTY THREADS:  Sat 22^nd Feb 7 pm –  a social evening at St. John Vianney, Heathfield Road with the opportunity to grab a few bargains and make some new friends. Monies raised goes towards Age Exchange.

Maureen Fitzpatrick RIP:

Parishioners will be sorry to hear that Maureen, our organist and friend for many years, died this morning (Saturday).   She was in hospital following a fall at her home a week or so ago.  Maureen, who was 94, regularly played for us at 10.30 mass on Sundays enabling us to build up a large collection of recordings.   So her music will live on!

The Archbishop invites you to reflect on the themes in the Called to Bear Fruit booklet. 

Use any groups you are in OR form your own groups OR form groups by signing your details on the sheet in the foyer. Respond to as many or as few of the themes as you want. Any group reflections should then be submitted to the diocese by April 6^th. 

Alternatively, use the booklets at home as individuals or couples and offer any reflections to the parish council, c/o parish office, by March 23^rd. These will be collated and sent as if from a discussion group!
