Dear Parishioners,

We had another wedding here this week which was wonderful. There was more rice and less confetti, which was good too! But a wedding offers everyone a lot of hope. The fact that two young people with so much to learn and experience in the future are prepared to entrust the rest of their lives to each other is truly amazing. They do know that there will be difficulties ahead but they have little idea as to what they will be. And still, they each give away the rest of their life. They both expect to receive a good deal from the other but there is no guarantee. Giving your life up for another unconditionally, is such a wonderful thing to do, that you’d think Jesus would have done it – oh, but he did!   –       Which reminds me, could those celebrating their diamond wedding this October please contact me.

                     God Bless,                                                Fr Doug

Unite with thousands of others at this family-friendly event where we recognise the value of life from conception and stand up for all those who have been impacted by abortion. Dear Parishioners,

It has been a long hot summer but I found myself in need of a jumper one evening this week and we even have the end of August appearing on the mass schedule overleaf. Time passes!

And that seems to me to be a joyous thing. It is a privilege to pass through the summer and indeed every season, adapting to the changes in temperature and in the length of night and day. Living through the year is more dynamic than merely existing through the year, like some piece of furniture. We engage fully with it. The difficulties and challenges that we face somehow take their place within all of that. Never, should we say: Stop the world, I want to get off. Rather, should we pray: Thank you Lord, for the life you grant me. I wouldn’t trade it for anyone else’s.

                                                                God Bless,                  Fr Doug
