Lord of the Oppressed

Christ is the defender of all who are sacrificed to the god of money, who are manipulated for economic gain. He sacrificed himself as a ransom for them all.

DIOCESAN DAY FOR CATECHISTS: Saturday 28 September 2019 starting at 10.30am and concluding with Mass at 4.00pm. Catechists are invited to attend the annual Diocesan Day for Catechists of the diocese, including those involved in Children’s Liturgy of the Word and the RCIA process. The day consists of three sessions each offering four subject choices. A catered lunch is included. For further information, contact email coraldavis@rcaos.org.uk or telephone 0208 672 7684.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED PLEASE. Our next Gardening Day will be on Saturday 5 October, when we will be planting the memorial rose bushes . If you can spare a couple of hours, we hope you will join us. Weather permitting, we will meet outside the church after 10am Mass. Please bring your own gardening tools.

MEMORIAL ROSE If you would like a rose in our memorial garden, please contact the parish office or Carole Hughes on 07762 731303. The rose can be in memory of any or all of your loved ones (minimum donation of £25).

The Christ we celebrate in this Mass is the second Moses who interceded for sinners, who came into the world to save them, and who loves them and welcomes them.

Christ Who Gave Up Everything For Our Sake.

We celebrate the self-sacrificing love of Christ, the unfathomable wisdom of God, who was prepared to give up everything out of love for man. In the same spirit St Paul was prepared to send back to Philemon the dear friend of his captivity, Onesimus, a part of his own self.

CHURCH GARDENS: Thank you to everyone who came to help last weekend. Our third ‘Gardening Day’ has really made a noticeable improvement. We have pencilled in Saturday 5th October for the final stage when we hope to start planting new rose bushes.

PARISH BARN DANCE: You are cordially invited to join us for our Parish Barn Dance in the church hall next Saturday, 14th September, from 7.30 until 11.00 pm (bar open from 7 pm). Great fun for all the family. No experience necessary! If you wish, please bring your own nibbles. Tea/coffee and cake will be served during the interval. Ticket numbers are limited and selling fast.
