First of all, a warning:

Thieves in BEXLEY posing as charity workers have been trying to steal money by door-knocking for donations toward the Tony Hudgell Foundation.

You may recall the story. Tony Hudgell, now nine, was left with numerous life-threatening and life-changing limb fractures, multiple organ failure and sepsis after violence at the hands of his birth parents when he was just 41 days old. He was forced to have his legs amputated at the knee but has since found happiness with adopted parents Paula and Mark Hudgell, from West Malling. The family launched the Tony Hudgell Foundation more than three years ago, but they are not “cold-calling” door to door. You are asked to report the matter to the Police if anyone calls on you.

Please be aware we are undertaking work in the hall during August, so the hall will effectively be closed during the weekdays.

               God Bless,

PARISH REGISTER for SICK OR HOUSEBOUND

We no longer have a register of those who are sick or housebound in the parish. I want to put this right and once we have an up to date list we will be able to reach out to them. So please help:

If you know of someone sick or housebound (and therefore not coming to church), please give me their name and if possible, their contact details. Many thanks, Fr Doug.

AID TO THE CHURCH IN NEED

We are still looking for someone to be the promoter for this great charity. The promoter would be required to maintain the flow of information in the newsletter and church foyer and to arrange for an annual retiring collection. Please let Fr Doug know if you think you might be able to help.

Dear Parishioners,

Shame about the football. It wasn’t fair. They had a better team than us!!

But there is more sport ahead, with the Olympics in particular. Participating in sport is a wonderful thing, but even in watching it we can hone our attitudes and our outlooks in life. Do we celebrate gifts, in others, but in ourselves too? Do we thank God for them? Do we empathise with the underdogs or losers? In life do we align with Jesus opting to be alongside the poor and marginalised – the underdogs and losers? Do we play by the rules, in business and in relationships? Are we prepared to endure pain, like athletes do in training, in order to release our greatest potential? Will we, like St. Paul, be able to say: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith”?

                                             God Bless,                                  Fr Doug

AID TO THE CHURCH IN NEED:  It was suggested at the AGM that we could and should support this organisation. If we are to do so we will need a parish promoter.
