OUR LADY’S FILM EVENING:  Wednesday 21st February: on Blessed John Henry Newman’s life and places in England where he lived and worked.  Bar open, all welcome, 7pm for 7.30pm start.

CHURCH HEATING: Following last week’s announcement by Fr Christian about the need to raise funds to meet the cost of repairing the heating system, there is more information about the problem on the parish website.  Just go to: www.stjohnfisherbexley.org/Heating or go the website and click on ‘Heating’ on the welcome page.

CONFIRMATION CLASSES: Please be advised that the first Confirmation Class will be on Thursday 22nd February 2018 from 19.30 – 20.30 in the Presbytery.  For the first session, we ask that at least one parent or guardian to attend also.  If you have not already given an email address, please can you send your name, your child’s name and your address to SJFconfirmation@outlook.com we will then be able to send out further details about the classes.  The Confirmation Service is booked for Saturday 7th July 2018.  We look forward to meeting you all.  The Confirmation Team

EVENTS PLANNING:  The Parish Events Planning Meeting took place on the evening of 19/1/18. There is an urgent need for funds for essential and expensive repairs to the church central heating and roof.  All profits from parish events will go to the Church for this purpose and it is hoped that parishioners will support the events. It was agreed to hold the following events: VARIETY & CABARET EVENING: Probably on 14th April.  ST JOHN FISHER FEAST DAY & BBQ: on 23rd June.  BARN DANCE: in September.  QUIZ: in October/November, and plan for: DINNER & DANCE, 60/70S DISCO, VOLUNTEERS PARTY. Bar will be open, light refreshments will be provided. OUR LADY’S FILM EVENING –  Our next film evening will be on Wed 21st February when we will show a documentary & a short movie on Bl John Henry Newman’s life and places in England where he lived and worked – from London to Oxford, from Littlemore to Birmingham, each revealing an important stage of his life. The films will be shown in the Church Hall, admission is free, light refreshments will be served, bar open, and all are welcome. Arrivals from 7 pm for 7:30 pm start.

WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY is traditionally observed by Christians around the world from 18-25th January – the Octave of St Peter and St Paul.  Churches Together in Bexley warmly invites you to our annual Unity Service on Sunday 21 January kindly hosted by St John the Evangelist, Penhill Road, DA5 1HX at 3.00pm with light refreshments afterwards.
