Dear Parishioners,

Welcome to all who are here today to remember someone they lost during this past year. We will be praying for each of them by name and lighting a candle for them.

We remember too, all those whose names are recorded in our parish Book of Remembrance.

And today we pray for those who lost their lives in wartime.

The whole of November is a time when we pray especially for those who have died and during the month we are encouraged to visit the graves of our loved ones. Priests from around the deanery will be blessing graves according to the following schedule:

Brook Street on 9th November at 3:00 pm

Friary Cemetery on 9th November (after the 8:30 Mass)

Dear Parishioners,

We have celebrated some wonderful funerals of late. You may be asking about the funeral next Friday. I feel a word of explanation is due. I received a call from a care home recently to anoint someone close to death. It was Rosalind Howells. By sheer coincidence I knew this lady. Baroness Howells was honoured with a seat in the House of Lords for her work with Grenadian people in the UK. She offered close support to a project my last parish was running in Grenada. Her family asked if we could host the funeral here and I agreed. It seems there will be many distinguished guests from both Houses, mayoral representation and so on. If you plan to attend the mass, then please assist with the hosting, welcoming guests to our beautiful church, etc.

                                         God Bless,                                Fr Doug

VOTIVE CANDLES – 40p

We have held the required donation of votive candles at 20p for many, many years despite the cost price increasing along with everything else. It has not troubled us as most people generously offer more than 20p. However, the time has come to ask for a bigger donation.   From now on please offer a minimum donation of 40p.

Dear Parishioners

In successive weeks we have been supporting through prayer, finance and other gifts, a number of good causes: CaFOD, Padre Pio Rehabilitation Centre, Missio and the Manna Day Centre. These are all expressions of the Church in Ministry, and it is a privilege for us to be able to participate. It is the responsibility of each of us  to grow in Communion and in Mission. Without the Church that would be a jolly sight harder. As a Church we can live the life God expects of us.

God Bless,                                                Fr Doug

HARVEST CAKE SALE:  The Children’s Liturgy Group thank everyone who supported our Cake sale last Sunday. We raised £172 which will be donated to Cafod’s work in the mission to needy people across the world.
