Dear Parishioners,
We thank God for the temporary ceasefire in Mr Trump’s War. No one takes him at his word but to threaten to annihilate a whole civilisation with his military might is way beyond any moral realm, it was a threat Pope Leo described as “totally unacceptable”.
Speaking to the tens of thousands of pilgrims gathered in St Peter’s Square on Sunday, Pope Leo XIV urged “those who have the power to unleash wars” to choose peace. This should not be a peace “imposed by force”, he stressed, but one achieved through dialogue – “not with the desire to dominate others, but to encounter them”. “Let those who have weapons, lay them down!”, he said. He continues to call for peace. In our thoughts and conversations let us be unequivocal in calling for peace and take the lead from our Holy Father.
God Bless, Fr Doug
EASTER GARDEN DONATIONS
Once again, our Easter Garden Donations are going to FRIENDS OF THE HOLY LAND. We have received this message of gratitude from them:
“The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.” (Isaiah 9:2)
We hold on to the message of Easter that new life rises and hope is renewed even in the darkest times. Thank you for standing with our mission in support of our brothers and sisters living through the hardest conditions experienced in the Holy Land in living memory. May this Easter bring renewed hope, peace and dignity to all those living in the Holy Land and to you and your families.
GEORGE BIRCH RIP: Please pray for the repose of the soul of george. His funeral will be on Tuesday 28th April at 10.30.
PATSY LATIMER: We pray for Patsy each week and her family sent a message following her 86th Birthday last week. She has not known any of us for a few years now but is otherwise in relatively good physical health. It will soon be 3 years since Fr Doug anointed her in the Sacrament of the Sick!
