Dear Parishioners,
“That was the week that was!”
From our Parish Day party on Sunday to our Deanery Jubilee Pilgrimage on Saturday. Our call to the heart of God is unique and personal but Jesus made it abundantly clear that we are to journey together in communion with him and with each other. We reach heaven as a Body (His body), as a community, and so it is important to celebrate and strengthen that community. That’s what “the week that was” was all about! Well done, everyone who participated in any way.
God Bless, Fr Doug
PARISH BARBECUE
And “That was the day that was!”
Well done Aidan and the Events Team for planning the event and to the huge number of helpers who made it happen: selling tickets, setting up, cooking, buying food, bringing food and catering equipment, running the raffle, donating raffle prizes, serving teas and coffees, and of course, clearing up. And much more besides, but most of all, to everyone who came along to celebrate the great community of St. John Fisher. And what’s more, together we raised over £600 which will be invested in resources to enhance our community activities – a worthy cause. (see above).
2 prizes still to be claimed from Fr Doug: Green ticket 156-160. Pink ticket 156-160
JUBILEE YEAR OF HOPE:
As part of the Deanery Pilgrimage for the Jubilee year, each of the parishes was presented with a Jubilee Year Candle, which will remain on our sanctuary till the closing ceremony of the Jubilee Year. It represents in our midst the hope that Christ’s presence brings us.
MASS INTENTIONS
Kathy Connolly has looked after the allocation of mass intentions for many years, but she is undergoing medical treatment at present. She hopes to be fit again soon. In the meantime, please give mass intentions directly to Fr Doug or put them through the Presbytery door. Many thanks.

SEA SUNDAY COLLECTION – Next week
Seafarers and fishers play a vital role in all of our lives, but they often work in difficult, hazardous conditions. On Sea Sunday, 13th July, the Church prays for all those who live and work at sea. Your support makes a big difference to seafarers and fishers in need. You can donate in church, by visiting www.stellamaris.org.uk/donate, or by texting ‘SEA’ to 70460 to donate £5. This collection is vital to enable Stella Maris to continue its important work. Please give generously.
