Dear Parishioners,

Fr Peter has been unwell. He is currently in respite care but is anxious to return to Bexley and we are making preparations for that. He’ll be home soon, I hope. It’s true isn’t it, that we are all different. If I am ill or injured I tell anyone who’ll listen and soak up any sympathy on offer! Fr Peter is different and insisted on absolute discretion when he took ill. I have though, been telling him that you hold him in high esteem and miss his presence.

PARISH REGISTER for SICK OR HOUSEBOUND

We no longer have a register of those who are sick or housebound in the parish. I want to put this right and once we have an up to date list we will be able to reach out to them. So please help:

STAR OF THE SEA

Seafarers and fishers play a vital role in all of our lives, but they often work in difficult, hazardous conditions. Today is Sea Sunday, a day when the Church prays for all those who live and work at sea. Your support will make a big difference to seafarers and fishers in need. You can donate in church, or by visiting www.stellamaris.org.uk/donate, or by texting ‘SEA’ to 70460 to donate £5. Today’s retiring collection is vital to enable Stella Maris to continue its important work, so please give generously. Thank you.

 

FORTHCOMING REFLECTION DAYS AT SANCTUARY QUIET GARDEN

Why not take some ‘time out’ this summer to refresh and renew the spirit! Both days will offer plenty of space for quiet, prayer and reflection. Bring a packed lunch. Donations welcome. Saturday July 20th – 11am to 3pm – “Walking Humbly with God” led by Chris Chapman (spirituality author and retreat leader), and Trudy Kilcullen. Time to explore how humility can help us grow in self-understanding and free us to share the best of who we are. Through humility we become self – aware without being self-centred.  

Saturday 24^th August – 11am to 3pm – “Bread of Heaven” led by Chris Chapman, and Fr Doug Bull. Explore how we can cooperate with God’s invitation to travel further into God’s life and love.
